Additional Alaska Renewal Rules

  • Continuing education must be completed during the concluding two-year licensing period.
  • Pharmacists renewing for the first time must complete 15 hours for each complete 12-month period they were licensed. No hours are required when the pharmacist has been licensed for less than one complete year.
  • Programs presented by ACPE-accredited providers are accepted. Qualifying American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR certification may provide no more than one contact hour during a 24-month period.
  • Renewal applications may be randomly audited. The Board reviews education reported through the ACPE–NABP CPE Monitor and may request certificates for activities not reported there.
  • Continuing education documentation should be retained for at least four years in case of an audit.
  • Pharmacists unable to complete the requirements because of illness or other extenuating circumstances may apply to the Board for an alternative completion schedule.
  • Licenses expire June 30 of even-numbered years, and there is no grace period after expiration.
