How NHA Counts Continuing Education
20 CE Hours = 10 NHA Credits
NHA converts two continuing education hours into one NHA credit. After all 20 required hours are uploaded, they will appear as 10 credits in your NHA account.
You must complete 20 hours—not 10 hours—to meet the renewal requirement.
Eligible Continuing Education for NHA Renewal
Continuing education submitted for NHA pharmacy technician renewal must relate to pharmacy technician practice. NHA makes the final determination regarding whether an activity qualifies.
- Activities may be completed through live presentations, online courses, correspondence courses, workshops, or other qualifying formats.
- Continuing education from pharmacy associations, pharmacy technician associations, and private continuing education providers may qualify.
- ACPE accreditation is not mandatory under NHA’s rules, although documentation should include the ACPE program number when applicable.
- Keep documentation showing your name, the activity date, provider, activity title, and number of completed hours.
Additional NHA Continuing Education Limits
10 Hours Maximum
In-Service Training
The ExCPT Continuing Education Form may document qualifying in-service training or projects completed under a pharmacist’s supervision. A supervising pharmacist must complete and sign the form, and no more than 10 hours may be documented this way.
15 Hours Maximum
College Courses
Qualifying college courses in mathematics, life sciences, or pharmaceutical sciences may receive continuing education credit when completed with a grade of C or better. No more than 15 hours may come from college courses during a two-year renewal period.
